Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd., founded in 1950, is the first heavy machinery enterprise independently designed and built in New China. It is affiliated with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanxi Province, a large-scale provincial state-owned backbone enterprise, and its subsidiary Taiyuan Heavy Industry (600169) is the core listed entity on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The company's construction machinery segment is its core and dominant business, leading the industry in strength. It is one of the very few state-owned enterprises in China capable of researching, developing, and manufacturing large-scale construction equipment across all categories. Its main products include large mining excavators, hydraulic excavators, new energy wide-body mining trucks, construction cranes, and a full range of intelligent construction forklifts. Among them, large mining excavators have been recognized as national-level single-product champions in manufacturing, covering all scenarios of open-pit mines, infrastructure projects, and industrial and mining transportation. At the same time, it has also laid out businesses in lifting equipment, metallurgical rolling, railway wheel sets, wind power, and high-end cast and forged parts, with its products serving key national sectors such as nuclear power, aerospace, infrastructure, and mining.

The enterprise has cumulatively developed over 500 first-of-its-kind domestic and international equipment items, with its construction machinery products exported to over 70 countries and regions worldwide. In 2024, the group's revenue exceeded 20 billion yuan, making it a national-level core enterprise for the research and development of construction machinery and high-end heavy equipment.
